Dancer of the Year!

The contest is open for all oriental dancers - amateur dancers, professional dancers and students.
The number of contestants are limited to ten solo-performers and each will perform a choreography of no more than four minutes.

The winner will recive a festival pass with a value of up to NOK 3500, with free entrance to all workshops and shows at the Oslo Oriental Dance Festival in february 2011 and the opportunity to perform at the Saturday Night show, sponsored by Studio Orient.
She will also recieve
- a festival pass to Egyptian Fever Festival in Katowice, Poland 4.-6. june 2010 with free entrance to all workshops and an opportunity to perform at the Gala show, sponsored by Suraiya. Value: app. NOK 4000.
- a brand new design costume, curtesy of Istanbul Dreams, Turkey, with a value of NOK 4500
- a gift certificate with a value of NOK 1000 from www.raqssharki.com, the first oriental webshop in Norway, sponsored by Søstrene Øye and
Total value: NOK 13.000

1st runner up wins a private lesson with the teacher of their choice among selected instructors. Value: NOK 400

2nd runner up wins a one year membership to Al Farah oriental Dance Association including all membership discounts and four editions of the Al Farah Magazine, value NOK 300. Sponsored by Al Farah.

RULES
Choreography: all contestants must present their own choreography. Guidance by another instructor is permitted.
Category: Oriental (themes like saidi, drumsolo etc in the music are accepted) Pure saidi, khaleegy, melaya and other styles are not accepted.
Length of material: maximum four minutes including intro.
Dress code: All contestants must dress appropriatly in a proper and decent costume.
Participation fee: NOK 410 (NOK 200 pluss entrance for the evenings show NOK 210, total NOK 410) The fee must be paid by january 15th and must be paid in full if you withdraw from the contast later than this date.
