Intermediate, oriental combinations and sequenses of a choreography

This workshop is a study of techique and combination-steps to some of the most important rythms for oriental dance. We will listen the rythms and learn who to count and discover the rythms and work with combinations suitable to theese various rythms and the styles of dance they derive from.
Rythms we will work with are Masmoudi Kibir, Masmoudi Sagir, Wahda, Maksoun, Saidi, Ayoup and Malfouf.

Advanced, Classical Oriental Choreography - 2 VACANT SPOTS
We will study an Oriental solo entrance choreography, a so-called madjensi.
The music has various parts with different rythms and intrumentation: Masmoudi kibir, wahda, maksoum, ayoub, and khallegy.
We will study the technique, steps and combinations that suit the various rythms and the style in the choreography is very different in each part. Some are very classical with a lot of movement for the stage, others have a touch of baladi, shimmy, western style and a small khalleegy section - and of course, a very powerful ending.
It is a perfect choreography for performers of advanced level with a lot of variation. The music is very beautiful and powerful. We will not work with the veil

Intermediate, oriental choreography with veil - FULL WAITLIST
Learn an exciting new choreography with dramatic veil work in this modern oriental choreography. The veil is often used in a more dramatic way among the American dancers, compared to the classic use of the veil in an entrance piece. The veil is often used in a longer part of the music, and in a more challenging way.

Advanced, andalusian choreography - FULL WAITLIST
Ranya Renee presents her brand-new choreography set to a lyrical piece of Arab-Andalusian "muwwashshah". This tradition of music dates to the time of the Arab empire in Spain -- beautiful poetry set to music - with more recent revivals of this style in Syria, Egypt, and North Africa. Egyptian master Mahmoud Reda has been a pioneer in creating elegant dances to this style of music, and Ranya is influenced by her studies with him in this subject.

Introduction to Bellydance for beginners

This choreography contains a variety of exciting shimmies and great hip-tricks.

Khaleegi choreography with Majken Wærdahl
Khaleegi is a dance that lies close to Majken´s heart.
This is an entertaining choreography with beautiful music.
Majken gives away all her old and new khaleegitricks in this choreography.
It's an advantage if you have prior experience with khaleegy, but not a requirement. The workshop runs over two days, a total of five hours, and you can see Majken perform this choreography at the Saturday Night Gala Show!
Level: Advanced/professional

Classes will be held at Studio Orient, downtown Oslo, except for Nesma`s intermediate and advanced classes, which will be held at NSKI, Møllergata 9.
Registration for classes with our foreign instructors (NESMA, RANYA RENEE, LENA HELT, SURAIYA) and the free introduction for beginners is done to Oslo Oriental Dance Festival, here.
Registration to norwegian instructors is done direcly to the teacher of the class. Contact information is listed under each workshop description above.
